Hong Kong director Stanley Kwan deconstructs Chinese movies. John Woo, Ang Lee, Tsui Hark, Leslie Cheung, Chang Cheh, Ti Lung, Peggy Chiao and Chen Kaige are interviewed in this documentary. This documentary by Stanley Kwan shows how gender and sexuality is dealt in Chinese movies. The 1st half of the documentary is about male bonding, followed by relationship with fathers and then women roles. In the last 15 minutes of the show, he analyzed the roles by Brigitte Lin and Yam Kim Fai. Stanley even throw in an interview with his mum. Unfortunately, Brigitte was never interviewed. Look out for the interview by Leslie Cheung. That's interesting.
