These references arise because in the Orient, Chinese ladies are referred
to as beautiful if they looked like Brigitte Lin.

In "It's a Wonderful Life", Leslie Cheung's character, in the middle of
being flirted with by Teresa Mo's character, asks her what/who she thinks

In "Mary from Beijing" (a 1992 film directed and written by Sylvia Chang;
starring Gong Li and Kenny Bee), there's a scene in which the character
played by Kenny Bee meets up in a lift again with someone with whom he
had done so a few scenes earlier. The other guy says something to
the effect that he wished that Kenny Bee's character could be Cherie Chung
(I got the sense that he meant that he would love to see to keep on seeing
a pretty woman the way he kept on bumping into Kenny Bee). Kenny
Bee's character responds by saying that he wishes the other guy was Lam
Ching Ha! An interesting addendum: When the subtitles said
Cherie Chung (actually mispelling her first name as Cherry), there was
a bracketed explanation that she was a Hong Kong actress. But when
it came to Brigitte's name (which was spelled something like Lin Quig Xia),
there seemed to be no need for any explanation as to who she was!

In the introduction of Legend of Zu, Cecilia Cheung plays the role of Countess

her dress and posture was very much like that of Brigitte's role.
Its a strong and uncanny reference to Brigitte's role in the prequel.
