Brigitte
Lin's
Films
I hesitate to give a Top 10 list as I have only seen about 70 of her
movies. But I can always recommend those that I have seen.
I like WuXia, action and comedy films. I don't like melodramatic
or military movies that smacks of propaganda. I like movies with
beautiful costumes and great soundtracks.
If there is any movie that you simply MUST watch, it has to be
Peach
Blossom Land. Peking Opera
Blues is excellent too! I think my choices could be
a surprise to many of you. But I actually enjoy watching theatre
more than movies. Peach Blossom Land is performed very well as I
could see so much of theatre in it. Mishaps during rehearsals are
part and parcel of theatre and theatre has a raw energy which is rarely
seen in the cinema. Peking Opera Blues has some theatrical action
too! In answer to your probable question, my most memorable shows
are Andrew Llyod Webber's Phantom of the Opera, Oscar Wilde's The Importance
of Being Earnest and Stella Kon's Emily of Emerald Hill.
Finally, I am not a film critic.
