Outside the Window (1972)
Hanyu Pinyin : Chuang Wai; Literal : Outside the Window

This movie is the 1st movie which Brigitte acted in.  Brigitte is Yen Yung, a student in high school and the neglected eldest daughter whose mother dotes on her younger sister and father dotes on the younger brother.  She fell in love with Kang Nan, her Chinese teacher who encourages her interest in writing.  They fell in love and their main obstacle is Yen Yung's mother who disapproved of their 20 years age difference.    Yen Yung even tried to commit suicide.  Her mother through clever maneuvering, manages to separate the couple.  The mother introduces Li Wei acted by Chin Han as the ideal boyfriend and husband to Yen Yung.  Who will Yen Yung choose then?  Kang Nan or Li Wei?

Be prepared to have a box of Kleenex with you when you watch this movie.  A must see for Lin Ching Hsia's fans!

There is a rather good review in the book Border Crossings in Hong Kong Cinema (ISBN : 962-7040-78-9).
