A young scholar who is very filial to his mother, has to fulfill 3 wishes made by his mother after the recovery of her ill-health. The 3rd wish was to write 100 copies of the Buddhist scriptures. To do so, he chose a secluded place which happened to be haunted. He encounters and falls in love with a ghost (Brigitte Lin) who is under the control of a demon. The demon (like any other demon) wants to eat the scholar.
