According to Akiko, That's not her voice.
Brigitte Lin played the male lead Bao Yi while Sylvia Chang played Xiao Yi. Basically Dream of the Red Chamber is about 2 cousins who are in love with each other. Unfortunately the girl cousin is weak and deemed an unsuitable bride for the family's pride and joy Bao Yi. Unfortunately Bao Yi doesn't want to marry anybody else and they tricked him into marriage promising him the bride that he wanted but switch the bride instead. Xiao Yi cries and dies of sorrow because her cousin married someone else. Bao Yi remains faithful and becomes a monk. Yes, you get to see a "bald" Lin Ching Hsia at the end from a distance with a bald cap.
This movie consists of 3 beautiful actresses Lin Ching Hsia, Sylvia and Michelle. By right, the female lead should be more beautiful but Brigitte was more beautiful and outstanding. Brigitte has a better role as she has more facets to portray like strength, cheerfulness, defiance, lovesickness, grief and madness. Sylvia is either smiling sweetly or crying. If not for the long-winded crying scene before death by Sylvia, I would say that it was a great show. I don't like death or crying to be prolonged if possible.
For all those people who like to cry your eyes out, you will like the 2nd half of the show. For those who like some excitment, look out for the paddle punishment of Bao Yi.
