This show is a likeable comedy revolving around a man (Richard Ng) and his three daughters and son. Brigitte Lin is the eldest daughter Tong Tong (literal translation East) who is a police inspecter, Maggie Cheung plays the 2nd daughter Nan Nan (literal translation South) who is a social worker and Chingmy Yau is the youngest daughter Xi Xi (literal translation West) who is a doctor. Jimmy plays the son Pei Pei (literal translation North). Note that in English, the sequence is North South East West but in Chinese, the sequence is East South West North which explains the naming order in this show.
All 3 daughters find guys to be presented to their father as their steady boyfriend when their father lied to them about him having cancer. Tony Leung is the gigolo who behaves macho to other women but shows a gentle feminine side to Brigitte Lin. Both him and Brigitte act with straight faces when their lines are gender-reversed. Watch out for the bowling alley scene, it is really funny. Maggie Cheung dates Jacky Cheung who is a triad member whose main purpose in dating Maggie is to present himself with a chance to assassinate Brigitte. Chingmy dates a virginal man, Dior Cheng who has accidently mistaken her for a prostitute. To top it all, Sandra Ng is the money grabbing girlfriend who is after the family's wealth and almost became the stepmother.
There is plenty of action as the show starts with Brigitte Lin capturing the Triad leader and ends with Brigitte recapturing the escaped Traid leader. In between, Brigitte beats up Tony Leung a few times especially when Tony Leung is affectionate or makes love to her. This brings extra meaning to the phrase "Love Hurts". When the gangsters tried to attack the family, Tony psyched himself to become Bruce Lee and attack the gangsters. Click for the Boys Are Easy Conclusion.
